F1选择性实习训练(选择)
Optional Practical Training (选择) is the term used for authorized off-campus employment by international students in F-1 status when the employment is 不 related to a class/course or curriculum. 选择 can be authorized for periods of time either before or after the completion of your program of study. 共12个月 of such training (work) authorization can be given to a student during his or her 留在美国. 学生 completing degree programs in certain science, technology, engineering, 和 mathematics (STEM) fields may be eligible for an additional 24个月的STEM 选择.
T在这里 are two types of 选择 that can be authorized by U.S. 公民身份与移民 Services (USCIS) as a benefit in the F-1 study visa program.

B) Post-Completion选择 (work permission after graduation)
补选择
Pre-completion 选择 employment authorized before the student's program end date. 学生 with approved pre-completion 选择 may work up to 20 hours per week while school is 在会话. 学生 who are eligible to register for the next term 和 who plan to do so may have approval to work full time when school is 不 在会话 (e.g. 夏天 vacation between freshmen 和 sophomore years).
Eligibilty
- Must have completed two (2) semesters of study (by the time work commences);
- 必须有已申报的专业;
- Must apply for 和 have authorization from USCIS (this is a 单独的 来自SEVIS的政府机构);
- Must be eligible for 和 have intention to enroll in the semester following the employment (e.g. register in the fall if working in the 夏天).

Follow these steps for 补选择 authorization
1. 寻找(校外)工作.e. 带薪/无薪实习，就业);

2. Select start 和 end dates 和 complete 补选择 Authorization Request 形式;

3. The DSO will provide you with a new Form I-20 showing DSO recommendation for this 就业;
4. 应用 for work authorization by filing a Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization (EAD), with USCIS 和 paying a filing fee ($410 as of 10/2023);

6. Do NOT start work UNTIL you receive your EAD!

Post-Completion选择
Post-completion 选择 is employment authorized after the student's program end date (i.e. 从火博体育毕业后). This is the more common type of 选择 requested 由火博体育学生.
Any approved pre-completion 选择 that is granted for periods of time before a student completes the program of study will be deducted from the 12 months post-completion 选择. For example, if you work 3 months during a 夏天 vacation period you would have only 9 months of 选择 after graduation. 学生 are eligible for 12 months of 每个职系级别的选择课程(e.g. 学士、硕士等。. 有几个条件 which must be met, 和 procedures which must be followed for students to be granted 可选的实践培训.

- You must be in F-1 status for at least one academic year (9 months) prior to your application for 可选的实践培训;
- Must have completed degree by the time employment commences;
